SUPPORT LOCAL MUSIC
We are fortunate to live in a city with a rich cultural identity. A crown jewel of the local music scene has to be the Stockton Symphony. The Symphony is in it's 92nd season and it looks to be another great one. Please use the link to check out their calendar. There are two dates featuring world class pianists. If you are looking to inspire yourself or the student pianist in your home, these can't be missed! Again, click on the link above and make plans to attend. You'll be very glad you did.
Another gem is the Take 5 Jazz Club located in Valley Brew off the Miracle Mile. Open mic night on Tuesdays and stellar jazz groups on Thursday night. The musicians are culled from the Brubeck Institute at University of the Pacific and guest musicians. If you like your jazz tasty and the jams fearless, you must stop by. Plus, the menu from Valley Brew is awesome.
The Conservatory of Music at University of the Pacific produces an eclectic spectrum of music. From concerts featuring classical music to big band to concert band and operas, it has it all. Check out the schedule and open your musical horizons. Admission is always quite reasonable plus you are supporting college students performing with passion and precision.
Another well known secret in the Central Valley is the Friends of Chamber Music. The interplay of musicians in a small group is a favorite of mine. FOCM hosts world-class musicians in Faye Spanos Concert Hall at UOP. Never listened to chamber music? Check out the schedule and give your ears an unexpected treat.
